Cinterion Wireless Modules was founded in June 2008 as a spin-off of Siemens's highly successful Wireless Modules business unit. The company specializes in wireless machine-to-machine communication (M2M) based on GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS/HSDPA network technologies.

Cinterion is a pioneer in wireless M2M communication with a long track record of achievements, including the introduction of packet-switched data communication to the M2M world with the first GPRS module. Cinterion is based in Munich, Germany, and has offices in the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. All other European countries are served by distributors and sales representatives.
