ESMIG is recruiting an Adviser

ADVISER FOR ONE OF OUR KEY ACCOUNTS

 

Orgalime, the European Engineering Industries Association, speaks for 34 trade federations representing some 130,000 companies in the mechanical, electrical, electronic, metalworking & metal articles industries of 22 European countries. The industry employs some 9.7 million people in the EU and in 2010 accounted for some €1,510 billion of annual output. The industry not only represents some 28% of the output of manufactured products but also a third of the manufactured exports of the European Union.

We are currently looking for an adviser to reinforce our “Orgalime Bridgehead” department, which consists of an 8-member team offering services to some 20 European Sectoral Associations in the engineering industry.

 

Job Description:

The adviser will be fully allocated to ESMIG, a trade association that supports the roll-out of Smart Meters in Europe. He or she will focus on lobbying of the EU Institutions.

The adviser could be allocated to another account in the future.

Main tasks will include:

  • Identification of lobbying issues especially in the area of Energy Policy
  • Identification of promotion areas for smart meters at EU level in cooperation with our Junior Adviser
  • Active networking with EU stakeholders and EU institutions – attend stakeholders event, meet with MEPs, Commission officials, etc
  • Writing of amendments and position papers
  • Coordinate working group meetings and take minutes
  • Off line and online promotion of the association with the Junior Adviser
  • Reporting directly to the managing director of ESMIG and the Manager of Orgalime Bridgehead

Profile:
  • University degree preferably in relation to EU affairs (Law, political science, or economics).
  • At least three years’ working experience, preferably in an EU policy environment
  • A sound understanding of the functioning of associations and EU regulatory processes.
  • Strong capabilities for building and maintaining relations on political level
  • Diplomatic, compromise building and negotiating skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Computer, internet and social media savvy
  • Excellent knowledge of English, German and French.
