During "Save it! EESC energy efficiency days" on 22-25 September 2009 (Brussels, Quai aux Briques - Sainte Catherine) ESMIG members will be showcasing various products and services in the area of Smart Metering Technologies.
This will allow visitors to experience first-hand how Smart Metering works, what it looks like and how Consumers and the Environment can benefit from Smart Metering.
Generally, Smart Metering provides households with accurate information on how much energy and water was consumed, when it was consumed and at what tariff. Detailed consumption data will help Consumers to better understand how they use energy and will empower them to reduce and adjust their consumption.
Thus Smart Metering delivers the Consumer the necessary tools to make informed decisions on energy-efficiency measures, such as heating, lighting and appliance upgrades, to opt for new energy supply contracts or to choose flexible tariffs.
Ultimately this will lead to a significant change in consumer behaviour towards more sustainable consumption patterns enabling a smarter energy world.
