PRI’s mission is to use its experience and capabilities to deliver advanced and intelligent metering solutions for tomorrow’s dynamic energy markets worldwide.
Our vision is that in future, cost-effective and sustainable energy for everyone will be delivered by the interaction of generation sources, both traditional and renewable, connected through dynamic distribution systems, aided by evolving retail solutions and end-user energy efficiency devices, performing as a symbiotic whole.
Our core values are based on improving industry practices and reducing waste, in the interests of fairness and sustainability, and treating our employees and our customers well.

Our commitment is to apply all our knowledge and experience to innovate wherever possible in order to create products and services better than those otherwise available and to support our Mission, Vision and Values whilst consistently delivering quality and reliability.
Environment and Society
The environment is precious to us all, and we remain diligent1 and actively participate in planting schemes to help offset our carbon footprint. We also have a number of programmes at group level supporting local communities, with particular emphasis on Health and Education.
We have a significant development team focused on energy efficiency and conservation, striving to find new ways to help others to reduce their carbon footprint whilst maintaining safe and comfortable living conditions.
History and Awards
PRI and its two founding companies, Polymeters and Response, have a long history of firsts and achievements. Some of the major milestones are:
- 1979 – Seeboard sponsored development of the Credit And Load Management Unit (CALMU)
- 1984 – CALMS trial to test the multi-utility smart meter in 300 homes, featuring in-home displays, load control and communications
- 1987 – Licence agreement with Secure Meters for advanced metering in India
- 1988 – Queen’s Award for Technology
- 1988 – Polymeters Ltd and Response Company merge to form PRI Ltd
- 1988 – CALMU 3 microprocessor electricity meter gains Ofgem Approval 1989 –The Most Effective Use of High Technology Award Winner
- 1990 – CALMU Code of Practice 3 solution launched
- 1991 – Licence agreement with Plessey Tellumat for keypad metering solutions in South Africa
- 1993 – Licence agreement with Sagem Industries for metering in France
- 1994 – CALMU Code of Practice 5 solution launched
- 1998 – Liberty keypad prepayment system launched
- 2006 – Queen’s Award for Enterprise – International Trade
