ESMIG E.DSO webinar: Is EU regulation supporting the cyber revolution for the energy sector?

On Tuesday 16 May, 10:30 – 12:40, ESMIG and E.DSO hosted a webinar ”Is EU regulation supporting the cyber revolution for the energy sector?’.

European legislation on cybersecurity has a fundamental impact on the energy sector and the utility industry, in particular on critical infrastructures such as smart grids with an increasing number of connected IT components. In addition to the Cybersecurity Act, the Network Code on Cybersecurity and the NIS Directive, new legislation and extensions are in the pipeline. As an example, the latest Delegated Act for the Radio Equipment Directive foresees the development of harmonised standards with security requirements.

The webinar provided insight on the current cybersecurity legislation, with a focus on further developments, plans and interrelations. With contribution from European institutions and stakeholders, our event looked at possible conclusions on how the European legislation could be streamlined, avoiding overlaps and cost increases.
