Germany is lagging behind in the smart meter rollout – no flexibility in the electricity system without digitalisation, no energy transition without flexibility. Germany’s special approach to smart metering systems and control boxes is expensive, complicated and slow. European neighbouring countries, on the other hand, have taken other paths and were more successful with them.
