Frequently asked questions

My organisation is interested in membership. What are the requirements?

ESMIG membership is open to any supplier of smart metering products, information technology and/or final consumer services for energy, water and/or heating/cooling in the European Union, European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Is there a fee for membership?

As a not-for-profit, ESMIG is funded by annual membership fees. These membership fees cover the running costs of the Association, and all projects and outreach activities to achieve common goals and activities driven by the membership.

What are the benefits of membership?

Becoming a member of ESMIG means joining a group of dedicated, active companies that cover the entire smart meter value chain, supporting and promoting the implementation of smart metering and enabled energy services and products. As a member, you will be heard in the political sphere, enjoy representation in key interest groups, participate in the development of responses on the notification of national meter requirements, build and maintain a valuable network and actively participate in working groups covering key areas of interest.

What are the networking opportunities?

ESMIG provides a platform to connect with fellow industry players, working towards a common goal and actively shaping the European energy transition. In addition to this, the Association hosts annual events with key figures in the industry, including European Commission and European Parliament representatives and maintains longstanding relationships with fellow European Associations and industry events.

As a member, what would be my role in the Association?

As with any membership association, active participation will allow you to take a leading role in setting priorities and guiding that work that we do. This in in turn means that you will reap the benefits. With six working groups and 6 task forces you will be able to join the groups that interest you the most and start making your voice heard!
