On 24 and 25 March, ESMIG members met in Brussels to discuss the new European Commission work programme, with a special focus on the Clean Industrial Deal and Affordable Energy Action Plan.
Highlights:
- Discussion with Alexandre Martin from the Secretariat General of the European Commission on simplification and competitiveness as key aspects of the Clean Industrial Deal, the upcoming ‘’Grid Package’’, the review of the Public Procurement Directives and the security of supply.
- Exchange with Charles Esser, Secretary General at E.DSO, on the significant role of DSO’s and the work of the newly created E.DSO Smart Metering Task Force.
- Discussion with Tadhg O’Briain, Deputy Head of Unit “Consumers, Local Initiatives, Just Transition”, DG Energy – European Commission, on the Affordable Energy Action Plan and the objective of delivering a value proposition to consumers to engage them in the energy transition.
We look forward to continuing our work highlighting the importance and vast benefits of smart energy solutions in the energy transition and working with the European Commission and fellow stakeholders. Smart meters and their data are a key part of the solution for more affordable, sustainable and secure energy!
